Torque-Transferring Characteristics of Offshore Tetrapod Piled Jacket Foundations in Dense Sand

چکیده
Tetrapod piled jacket (TPJ) foundations that support offshore wind turbines (OWTs) tend to be subjected significant torque is caused by eccentric loading from wind, waves, or accidental vessel impact. This paper presented a comprehensive three-dimensional (3D) numerical analysis investigate TPJs performance under torsional loading, which considered the distribution of local and rotation over pile shafts underlying load transfer mechanism. A modified Mohr–Coulomb (MMC) model for dense sands was implemented in ABAQUS/Standard captured evolution friction dilation (ψ) angles against accumulated plastic shear strain (γp). The results showed imposed at head TPJ foundation could trigger soil reactions resistance (τs) horizontal force (Hp) individual piles; higher spacing-to-diameter ratios (S/D) mitigated influence loads. pressure-dependent proposed effects pile–sand relative stiffness sand’s density (DR). employed predict response improve their practical design.

Geotechnical Interaction of Piled Raft Foundations: Two Case Studies
Application of pile-raft foundations, which are known as “compound foundations”, is a suitable alternative in the case of heavy load structures. The interaction behavior of pile raft foundations makes these systems very complex to analyze. Different methods have been proposed to determine the bearing capacity of piled raft systems and distribution of loads between the components, i.e. pile grou...
متن کاملSimulating offshore sand waves
Sand waves form a prominent regular pattern in the offshore seabeds of sandy shallow seas and pose a threat to a range of offshore activities. A two-dimensional vertical (2DV) flow and morphological simulation model describing the behaviour of these sand waves has been developed. The simulation model contains the 2DV shallow water equations, with a free water surface and a general bed load form...
متن کاملModelling offshore sand waves
Offshore activities often encounter large scale sand patterns, such as sand waves. Sand waves are offshore bed forms occurring at water depths of 10 to 50 m. Their wavelengths can lead up to 500 m and their heights are typically several metres. Furthermore, sand waves have been shown to migrate, with typical velocities of up to metres per year. These dynamic sand waves decrease the least naviga...

متن کاملSeismic Vulnerability Assesment of Jacket Type Offshore Platforms
Most of oil and gas offshore platforms are located in the seismic regains. So, Seismic vulnerability evaluation of the offshore platforms is one of the most important and vital issues in the structural systems. In this study, jacket type offshore platforms are studied by incorporating the pushover analyses and nonlinear time history analyses, in such a way that, first some push over analyses ar...
